I'm a little kid at heart. I'm the girl who's just as comfortable catching frogs as I am dressing up and going dancing out on the town. I grew up surrounded by water and trees, and I carry the tranquility of the Virginia woods in my heart.
I'm happiest when I'm helping others, basking in early morning sun, and cuddling my kitty.
I'm many things. I have a masters in global macro social work, and you can find me doing business strategy, corporate social responsibility, and empowering female leaders when I'm not doing photography. I'm a traveler and a musician. I try to pursue love, justice, and beauty as much as I can, and have fun while I'm doing it.
into photography began in college, when I signed up for a black & white film class. After my first assignment, I hurried back to the darkroom, gingerly attempting to extricate the film from the canister in complete darkness to wind it onto the spool to develop the film. Twenty minutes later, I was sitting on the floor, utterly humiliated, the film still stuck in the canister. When I finally freed the film and developed it, the pictures were awful. But I stuck with it, spending hours poring over textbooks, wandering the city with fellow students testing new techniques, laboring late nights bathed in crimson as I dodged and burned and fell in love.
It has been many years, rolls of film, lenses, and cameras since I first sat on that darkroom floor, convinced I'd never amount to much of a photographer. I've had the honor of capturing some of the most important moments of people's lives, from wedding days to sweet moments with a new baby. It's been a long road, and I'm ecstatic to share my art with you.
